I don't normally do crops cause the resolution of the little 65mm scope doesn't allow for it, but here's 47 Tuc cropped from the same stack that made the SMC mosaic. Looks a bit bigger now doesn't it?

14x 150-second images stacked in DSS with bias and flats then post-processed in Photoshop. AT65EDQ, Nikon D5100, IDAS filter, HEQ5 pro mount.

Very nice Cam; the little 65 does a good job, but have you thought about
a minus violet filter for your 102 f/5, or reducing the CA whilst
processing?

The CA in the 105mm F/5 is really bad in photos. It's not that offensive at low power visually but for photo, ugh... I'd say it'd be worth using it with an H-alpha filter and monochrome camera but there's some coma/field curvature present too. I should flog it off, but I'm kind of attached to it.

Nice shot Cam.

You could probably get away with the achro with 47 Tuc as it has few bright stars in the field to throw CA. I got away with it with my 120mm achro.

Sheesh Cam, your really rip them out, how do you find the time. Another fantastic shot.

My SW 80mm f/5 amazes me; on the moon only a faint trace of violet
one side of focus, and ditto yellow the other side, almost none when perfectly focussed. Solid haloes around bright stars of course.
Only $199 new on a solid alt/az tripod.

Not sleeping. Unfortunately it leaves buggered at work for the rest of the week. Not sure how much my colleagues appreciate what I do for the love of art.

I actually still have a couple of shots I need to get around to working on.

Yeah some scopes are way better than their price tag or general expectation. Sadly my 102mm F/5 Celestron isn't really in that same category. That said, I couldn't replace it without spending a lot more cash than just trying to upgrade it... Thinking I really want to move to a pair of reflectors though. Do monochrome H-alpha and OIII with one and RGB one-shot colour with the other. I won't be able to afford any of that though for at another year and half though.
