Petrified Wood ?

This Shot from South Western Qld. This sits atop a block of Sandstone. If it is not petrified wood, it is a delightful piece of geology none the less.

It looks like petrified wood; something I haven't seen 'in the wild' for a long time.
It's interesting stuff, and I believe it polishes up nicely if you know some one who has the gear.
