I've just compared the colour of the coatings on the corrector plate of my old 9.25 with the new one I've just received as a replacement and they are very... very different:shrug:

I'm standing here looking at them side-by-side, from exactly the same vantage point with the scopes pointing in the same direction. Both are Starbright XLT coatings and yet my old 9.25 has a very distinct blue/purple appearance while the new one is a soft rose/peach/reddish kinda colour.

Would this affect visual/imaging performance?

I'd have thought the blue/purple would be best, given that's the colour most corrector plates I've seen have been?

Perhaps fellow 9.25 users (Dennis, Rob T, Asi etc) would be kind enough to tell me what colour are your corrector coatings?

Mine is of the blue/purple variety mate.

From memory, when I was cleaning mine 'cos it rained on the corrector whilst I was kipping, it is predominantly blue/purple, although some viewing angles skewed this towards a deeper purple.

Cheers

Dennis

Yeah, I keep threatening to sell the whole kit & take up lawn bowls under lights, but perhaps I better not!?

I realize that patience is a 'virtue' but this is ridiculous! :mad2:

What's the serial number there on your secondary housing?

It's funny, but my new one has a serial number also on the secondary housing in the same place as yours, while my old one doesn't. It's serial number is stuck back on the tube where its meets the primary mirror case/housing.

Even weirder... the serial number of my original 9.25 is higher than the replacement, suggesting the replacement is older stock (earlier series number)

Weird.

Reckon I might have got one which had been on the shelf a while

Thats interesting! Every pic I've seen of a 9.25 has the serial # where mine is ?

Mine has no other numbers on it anywhere apart from on the secondary as shown.

Mine is: 960574 / I'm not sure what that number represents though, any ideas?

No idea, John.

Possibly you may have copped one of the older models with the Starbright coatings. The new XLTcoating is what you should have if you ordered an XLT.

Mine says "star bright coatings" on it..
