Hi everyone,

Decided to have a go at Uranus after midnight this morning.

Seeing was variable, but managed to get 5,000 frames and stack 2,000.

Taken with an IR685 filter, ASI120mm camera, 5 x Powermate and 12.5" f/5 scope.

Unlike some of the images I have seen on the net, no markings on this image, so will try again in the coming weeks.

What I do like about this image though is the image scale achieved (resized 1.5 times) and the false colour appeal.

Clear skies,
John K.

That is serious image scale and very smooth too! Maybe one could try IR, R and G, mapped as RGB, for "true" colour - as B tends to be useless at that sort of f-ratio.

Was thinking maybe R IR sandwich might reveal some banding.

Was only imaging at 4fps so for Blue I think I would have to really image at very slow rates indeed!

Nice image Steve, very low noise look to it and I like the image scale.

I think you could achieve some banding with an IR685 filter, but I'm guessing you would need very good seeing as the exposure time will be relatively long.

There have been some good results with a 610 nm longpass as well, which might suit the sensitivity of the ASI120MM and allow a higher frame rate.

This is really good John.
Can you tell me if the planet is noticeably blue in the eye-piece visually, or more white? I haven't found it yet but am keen to try.

Thanks for all the comments.

Pretty much same colour as reproduced in the image visually. Definitely more aqua blue/green then white.
