View Full Version here: : My apologies

Guys and gals,
I would like to formerly and openly apologise if I have come across as a right pr!ck, ar$ehole or rude, arrogant and belligerent twat the last couple of weeks. (if not even more than usual :( ). No excuses for such impropriety and I do sincerely apologise all round to any and all affected, insulted or aggravated by it.
Not going to rationalise it, just admit to it's existence and the genuine fact that I do apologise for this unwarranted behaviour.
I will always be the "witty" clown, and occasionally VERY blunt, matter-of-fact (I won't pad things out for people) - you'll have to accept that as the way I am - but there is absolutely no acceptable excuse for the behaviour of late.

Actually I always enjoy your posts! The problem generally is that most face to face communication is non-verbal. Take away all the visual cues and it's easy to misconstrue the words, or to take offence where none was intended. Ask 2 amateur astronomers their opinion and you will get at least 3 opinions! At the end of the day (deliberate pun) we all have the same love of the night sky which we want to share, and I am sure we all have things to learn from each other.
Unless you've received some poison pen PMs that we obviously won't have seen from person or persons declaring their unhappiness with something you've said Lewis, I wouldn't worry about a thing.
You've seen how easy it is to p!ss some people off on here, with even serious or sensible comments, especially about a range of taboo subjects.
So God forbid that you should try to inject a bit of humour into your posts, - you can imagine how easily that might go pear shaped. I love to be humourous in the things I write, but it is true that without knowing someone personally, or at least being able to see them for the visual clues people give off, you can easily be onto a loser - so I don't bother so much in my posts.
Don't worry about it Lewis. As some great person once said - " You can't please all the people all the time, but with very little effort you can p!ss off some of the people most of the time".
Keep it up buddy - don't let them grind you down.

I honestly don't understand why people leave this forum if a few people upset them in a thread.
if you don't like it, just don't reply to the thread, there's so much more to learn from others here.
So I don't think its a big deal Lewis, apart from your obvious love of refractors (I love fast newts).
Cheers

I haven't noticed anything you need to apologise for, but then again I'm pretty thick. However the tone of your post raises one important question: RU OK?? Inappropriate behaviour (real or imagined) can be a sign of deeper problems. Look after yourself. Seek help (professional or just talk to a mate).

Don't fret too much Lewis I watched that thread pretty closely and I couldn't see much aggro in what you wrote - certainly nothing that justified the craziness that turned up later in the thread.

LOL, mind reader.
Oh, what thread, didn't see it.
First comment still applies.
But in agreeing with what has been said, just ignore Lewis, don't take him seriously, I never have, works for me. LOL.

I didn't see it either (I have been pretty busy lately), and apparently it has now been deleted. But I agree with those who said don't fret too much.

Unfortunately there are always precious petals in all forms of life who have to justify their miserable existence by complaining and making life difficult for everyone else just because they can't manage their own pitiful life.
Ignore them Lewis and keep on keeping on mate.
No need to apologise to anyone.

No, I was rude, that was for sure, and definitely arrogant and ungentlemanly. This was toward Bert in particular. I also do apologise if Peter (Stardrifter) felt victimised too because of my attempt at humour. Humour, or attempts thereof, are subjective, and perceptive.
Anyway, thanks all, but let's kill this one here. Could be considered attention grabbing/grandstanding/dieing diva, which it most assuredly was NOT meant to be (or perceived as).

As someone who has a quirky sense of humor and is sometimes too thick to realize that what I say/type can be interpreted in ways I do not intend I often have to back track / apologize and explain myself.

Lewis, I wouldn't worry about it, we all have our moments when we can be a bit abrasive. It usually co-incides with periods of high cloud cover, our bored little brains just seem to make trouble...
Having said that, I didn't see the thread in question. I'm always up for a good, well-behaved argument (the full half hour, not just the five minute), but I didn't see this one.
Anyway, it looks like it's going to be cloudy here for a while, better go start a thread on anthropomorphic global warming or speed cameras or what a 'tard Tony Abbott/Bill Shorten/Christine Milne/Clive Palmer is/are or if we are going to have troops sent back to Iraq/Syria or some such topic.
Cheers
Stuart
Hi Lewis, don't worry about it. Life's too short.
Like Stuart said we all have good and bad days.
Probably just a cloudy week. :D
