Massive prominence visible on east limb of sun

Members with H alpha scopes there is an enormous complex prominence structure putting on a show on the east limb of the sun. It will quickly rotate onto the visible earth facing face of the solar disk.

The Learmonth Ha image time stamp seems quite out of date but it shows a small prom in the right sort of location. The view in a Ha scope is superb.

I was in the process of editing the post and removing the attachment when you viewed it. I got fooled. The Learmonth image is date stamped July but it looked like an earlier image of todays sun.

Sorry, can't find a Sun now Ha image but I'm sure some members set up for photography will record this one.

Snapshot taken through 25mm eyepiece on my 40mm Coronado PST. I'm not set up for detailed photography with the Ha scope.

Prom is about 1 arc min or three Earth diameters high.

I was able to get a few shots in between the clouds this afternoon. I used the SM40 external Etalon fitted to a Tele Vue Pronto+BF30 filter+DMK51.
