Nice shot Peter. There's signs of the horse head there as well as the flame nebula.

Only need RA drive Graeme. If I need to move in dec I use the cable. But RA so far has given me up to 3 minute exp with no trailing. Didn't have time for that kind of alignment this morning. May have another crack tomorrow earlier.
Thanks Rex
this was my canon 100-400L. great lens. f8 to f10 fav apertures for stars :) Manual focus too

Very nice work Peter,
Good to see the flame in there.
Did you add the diffraction spikes in?

Awesome shots Peter.
Newbie question: was this taken just with the camera or did you hook it up to a telescope?
Thanks mate.

That's an excellent field Peter. Well done.

No Bo. diffraction spikes are from the aperture elements in the lens which become prominent at smaller apertures F8 or less (remembering lager numbers are smaller apertures)
Just my camera piggy backed on the ED80. ED80 used as finder pretty much although I found they do not align very well.
Thanks guys. Good feedback is always nice.
Must get up earlier for more shots and more than 5 minutes to align.

Not that hard. a camera with long exposure ability and removable lens helps but there are point and shots you can get adapters for to use scope as a lens.
