Without sounding like a complete tosser, I'm happy to say I received 2 silver awards (83/100) and 2 silver awards with distinction (85/100) from 4 astro photos entered into the Aipp Australian Professional Photography Awards, Science & Nature category, in Sydney this weekend. :)

The standard of work was much higher than the recent state awards, and the competition was fierce. Subjects included amazing underwater shots of Whales and Polar bears in the wild, Macro and Biomedical photography.

The awards were judged by a panel of Australia's finest pro photographers and I was delighted by the results! Thanks everyone on IIS for freely sharing your knowledge to help people like me on this AP journey, I'm very grateful for all your help

Thanks everyone, appreciate your kind words. Was nice to see AP getting well received.

The images created quite a buzz in the audience.
I had many photographers and students approach me afterwards with wide eyes in wonderment that these kinds of images can be taken with modest gear in one's own backyard :)
