Hi Guys! Just got back in from a great night of observing. I was lucky enough to see some old friends that I haven’t seen in a while. The friends? They all live in the Sagittarius region. Very clear tonight. Surprising considering that just before sunset, and most of the day it was cloudy and foggy earlier today. Seeing was about as good as it gets for here in the suburbs. Temps were in the mid 60's, which is too darn cool for my taste for August. What happened to those 75 degree nights we had a few weeks ago? Sucks that the nights are getting cooler already. Tonight I had the trusty dob out instead of the refractor since I was going dso hunting. No cameras or other crap. Just the scope, two 25mm plossles, the bv’s, starcharts, and a nice cool drink & snack. Sure was nice to travel light.

Actually, for many of these objects that I observed tonight it was the first time observing them through the binoviewers. What a treat seeing more detail than I have before in these clusters and nebula. Let’s see.... my stops in Sagittarius were at M7, M8, M16, M17, M20, M21, M22, M23, M24, M25, M52, M54, M69, M70, NGC6624, NGC6544 and Cr394. Scanning around other constellations in the summer sky I also made a few stops at M11, M13, M39, M57, M92, IC4756, IC4665, NGC6633, NGC6664, NGC6738 NGC6910, and Cr350. The only ones that I had trouble finding tonight were the twin M’s (Plain and Peanut).

Funny how with the BV’s you can have a bit less light reaching your eyes, but since you are using both eyes you can resolve more stars. This was the best workout that I’ve given the BV’s. Let me say (again) that they are worth every penny that I spent on them. Sure was nice having a clear summer night when I didn’t have to work, and didn’t have any plans for a change.

Glad you had a great night! I've never tried binoviewers before, but they sound like a must have accessory. Thanks for posting.

nice story, we are still coming out of winter here, so nature has thrown in a few warmer days of around 21 deg C (BTW talk in enlgish on this site, a few may think 60 was damn hot!) ;-) its becoming a nice time of year, next month or two the mozzies will be out in force!

Sorry about the lack of "English" Houghy (sheesh, you think I was speaking Swahili ). Temps are at 18 degrees at night. I miss the 24 degree nights we had a few weeks ago. (Now why do I feel like I'm freezing? LOL)

Now about that "Speak English" comment.... LMAO

HA! You might be getting 21 degrees Houghy but it's still freezing here. Hovering around 12 of a day and zero at night still!

A Mozzie is a Mosquito
