A few weeks ago I asked if anyone had any suggestions for books on astronomy for a 7yo boy who obsessed with planets, stars and space.
I had a few responses but one particularly generous IIS member (who asked to remain anonymous) offered a couple of books and a brand new Galileoscope. This was completely free of charge including the postage. It arrived tonight and I have delivered them to the child's grand parents who will pass them on soon.
As an extra, the donor included a second Galileoscope as well so I am pondering how to use that.

It reminds me that the IIS community is, by and large, a generous and giving group, and we should be proud to belong to such a group and also to the wider amateur astro community around the world.

Cheers

Malcolm

Hi Malcolm,:)

I assume it was the same member who sent me two scopes for my two Grandsons. I seem to have lost contact with the member but I still do think about the generous act.

These scopes have increased the young ones' interest in astronomy, particularly David.:)

The two young ones have had their dads make up some crude but effective tripod supports.
David becomes of age next year to join the school's astro club. The school has a 14" Celestron and (I'm guessing the size) a 20' dish radio scope and a few other great toys.

I will honour that particular member's desire to remain anonymous but I want it known we have not forgotten.:)

Cheers

Just renewed our contact with each other. That is with the generous anonymous member.
Nice to know the person is still around.

Cheers:)
