On the tail end of hypertuning my EQ6 I'm selling the left over parts I no longer need. I have the following on offer, read on below for an explaination.
8x ZrO2 8mm sealed and oiled bearings for worm gears ($6.50 ea) [PENDING]
4x Si3N4 8mm sealed and oiled bearings for worm gears ($8.50 ea) [PENDING]
1 set of spacers with the following dimensions ($10 for all or free to whoever orders all 4 of the Si3N4 bearings): [PENDING]
- New Delrin spacers:
- 1x 0.58mm
- 1x 0.41mm
- 2x 0.31mm
- Second hand Telfon spacers:
- 2x 0.51mm
- 2x 0.47mm
Explanation of parts:
The hypertune primarily involves degreasing, regressing, adjusting spacings (which the factory has had a history of not setting correctly) and replacing some key bearings. The bearing replacement which yields the most benefit is the worm gear bearings. For the most part the remainder of the bearings are only worth replacing if they are damaged.
I have 2 sets of bearings. Si3N4 is a harder wearing material than ZrO2, but while this benefits heavy loads there is almost no load on these bearings in the EQ6 so I doubt there's any benefit one way or the other. I have both types due to a factory error resulting in me receiving the wrong kit. Either bearing would be suitable for the hypertune, and the bearings are sealed and oiled and move far more freely and smoothly than the ones I pulled out of my mount.
Setting of spacing in the EQ6 is done in the factory via Teflon spacers. On my mount these spacings were wrong and often these spacers have crumbled or have been crushed. A better replacement is Delrin which is more stable under compression. You may need them, you may not. I found my Dec axis spacers were damaged but my RA ones are fine (and thus for sale here). I also have a few left over spacers from the Delrin kit I ordered.
For those who have doubts they are capable of hypertuning, if your mount is put together properly you can hypertune with a screwdriver, a set of allen keys, and some new grease. On my mount I also needed an oil filter wrench because the RA axis support nut was way too tight. In any case have a look at this guide here to see what it's all about:

I don't want to hold on to this stuff so whoever orders the Si3N4 bearings can have the spacers for free if they wish, otherwise I'm selling them for $10 separately.
I'll confirm with Aus Post but if I can fit the bearings in as a "letter" then I'll ship for free Australia wide too.
