Hi all, I use to post on the deep sky section but this time I believe the image belongs to this section :)

I have also imaged the the encounter of C/2013A1 Siding Spring with 47 Tuc from my remote observatory in Coonabarabran:

Comet Siding Spring and 47 Tucanae encounter (http://www.glitteringlights.com/Images/Solarsystem/i-4bTqDNQ)

I took several short images (2 mins) through my LRGB filters and than I properly combined the frames to get two different sets: one having only the comet (I used the comet's core as alignment reference, basically rejecting the stars using a sigma clip combining) and one having the star field with the path of the comet stretching the whole sequence. The night before I had taken some long exposures of the area to have a good quality LRGB stack of the cluster and so I sandwiched all these images together precisely aligning the comet image on the beginning of the comet path. I than removed the comet trail and got the image posted. It is not what can be called a single shot image but I am quite happy with the result :)

Hope you will like it

:-)WOAH very nice and i do believe you have ??split the tail??is there an apparent short thick tail going straight up and an apparent much longer one out to the top-left??

Thanks all for the appreciation, I am happy you liked it! Having the possibility to stack long exposures of deep sky field and short exposures of fast moving objects is a great advantage of modern techniques :)

Ahemm, not sure I actually did it, I can definitely see that the dust tail is longer and pretty curved but I am not sure to see a short tail going straight up, it seems more an impression to me due to the strong stretch of the color channels of the comet image
