Howdy Ho folks,
Very exited to see my new QSI wsg8 arrived from the good 'old US of A via the nice folks at Bintel today. Factory fitted with 5nm Ha, OIII & SII & LRGB 31mm Astrodon filters too :eyepop: Very securely packaged and well organized.
Big step up from my OSC, now to set off and conquer the Mono/OAG mountain (he says bravely) - Apologies for the poor weather and cloud cover we're now going to get over SE Australia for the next fortnight... wish me luck folks :)
Any tutorials you would recommend? :help:
Cheers
Andy

:bowdown:Hubba, hubba Andy! Looks gorgeous, have fun, can't wait to see some early results - maybe by February, when the weather clears up again after your delivery!
Mods - you need to add a 'insanely jealous' smiley to the forum

Congratulations, mate. You must be stoked and excited.
It certainly looks like a gorgeous little unit. :)
Good job on the narrowband filters, too. Mine (2" unmounted Baader SII/OIII) should be here today!

Pretty sweet piece of kit there!
All the best with it :)

I am on my second QSI now. First was a 583 before the 683 series came out. Both have been good cameras. I really like my 683WSG-8. Flawless operation in a remote installation. Does a cracker of a job. You will really enjoy this piece of kit. I used it to take the data on my David Malin overall winner image "Dust and Gas". This kit is quality. Only thing that could be better is the cooling and that is already pretty reasonable.
CCDsoft, Maxim, Sequence generator pro and a few other programmes will run it well.
Get good calibration frames too.

Thanks everyone. Clear night here in Melb and would love to be out doing it, but have been laid low by a bout of gastro :(

Congratulations Andy. I've had my 683-ws for about six weeks now and am busy ramping up the ccd learning curve.
