Spare tyre (IC 5148) with halo

This is my first attempt at incorporating 18.5 hours of OIII into my IC5148 image. Basically I just added the OIII to the blue and green with equal weight. It looks a little weird and there are probably better ways I could have presented it. Essentially I just superimposed the halo on the nebula.

Pretty cool Steve and yes could perhaps try blending the halo in a little more seemlessly I guess? Might see another couple of people come out with deep images of this object now too ;)..Ricks been staring at it for literally days :thumbsup:

Thanks Mike. Yeah I've been playing with it all afternoon and my brain's now the consistency of custard so I thought I would have a rest before I get back to it. I'll be very interested to see what Rick makes of it.

geez, from my experience thats very impressive Steve, very cool. The black ring looks a bit lazy processing wise after all that effort ;). If this halo winds up to being a hero challenge, im going to have to give it a go myself :lol:

IC5148 is such a good show case of megadata value and processing skill :thumbsup:.

Hi Steve, you have got the same image in this link as before. I cannot see any halo. The file name is the same as in your other thread.

Hi Steve,

The halo looks great but the dark ring is wrong. In a SHO or HOO image the halo hugs the body of the "spare tyre" very tightly and the area closest to it is probably the brightest part of the halo.

I'll get to processing mine as soon as I get a chance. It seems I now have a surfeit of data with more arriving from SRO every day. Good problem to have, I suppose :D

Yep - I know the ring is wrong Rick but I temporarily got sick of it and thought I would put out an interim version. Hopefully I'll produce a better one tomorrow. I'm recovering from a cold at the moment which hasn't done much for my processing skills.

Your 50+ hours should blow mine away

BTW Nice colour on the halo Steve, once you get the halo processed in properly it will look pretty nice.
