hi,

had a change to image for a bit last night from my backyard so tried the cats paw in narrowband.
I managed to get only 60mins of Ha and 10mins of S2 before clouds rolled in.

so here's a bi-colour of the cats paw, bit noisy due to lack of data but I will be adding more over the next few days. its always been one of my fav nebula and I need to do it justice.

larger res here http://www.astrobin.com/full/116772/0/

I haven't stretched it too much to hide the noise and gradients, but I will once I add more data.

stacked in maxim, processed in startools

this was the first real test of my Orion steadystar AO, I'm very impressed with how it handled my OTA's flexure and wind.
I'm changing the OTA to a 7mm foam core Carbon fibre OTA, so once that's done, the AO will only be correcting my EQ6's dance.

6 x 10min Ha - 7nm Baader
1 x 10min S2 - 8nm Baader

Very nice mate. That new setup with the AO is coming along well.

this is fabulous....

but a quick question...
to what channels did you assign your Ha and SII data to??

Well done! I struggled to get any SII at all from this object :) There's a smidge of OIII and an abundance of Ha.

Cheers,
Rick.

Thanks for the comments everyone

I used LRGB mapped as - Ha:Ha:S2:S2

So the lighter reds are the S2 and darker reds are Ha

Thanks Rick, yep O3 is very faint, S2 wasn't too bad but a lot fainter than Ha.
I'm hoping to add more data next week and finish a tri-colour. I might need to dedicate a night each for S2 and O3.

I might need to get a narrower band S2 and O3. my LP seems to affect both, even Ha.
I compared the Ha from my backyard to one I took from a dark site and the difference is pretty significant.

Whats that software you are using to combine the Monochrome images?

Thanks Mike. Credit goes to startools for the decon, sharpen and noise control.
I need to reprocess with flats, that should get rid of the gradients

Thanks Ross, hoping to add more data

Hi, I use Maxim for calbration, stack, align and colour combine and startools for processing

Really love this one Alistair. The detail you've managed in such a short integration time is amazing.
