A short timelapse of tonight's transit.
Taken using a slowly sinking mount. LOL It's always something isn't it. LOL

Well done - very nice work!
What actual time duration does this represent?
EDIT: Never mind - your video comments didn't show up on the YouTube Viewer on my phone, but I see "The first frame was taken at 11.18pm Australian EST, the last frame at 2.33am. "

Wow JJJ, excellent sequence. I especially love the little "thing" coming from NGC362, towards the comet, what was that? Satellite?
Co-incidentally took a a few shots myself last night, processing them now.

I guess that 'thing' was a hot pixel? The conspiracy theorists will be all over it, *proof* that globular clusters are actually in our solar system :eyepop:
But that's a super video, great you got the comet headed right past ngc 362, well done!

Well done JJJ, as expected the clouds rolled in at 0115 here, about 20 minutes after I went to bed and just before the comet passed the GC. Nice to see that someone got it.
Cheers

Ahh yes. I was trying to make it seem like the viewer was watching it in real time. None of this static, unrealistic stuff. :)
Thanks for looking everyone.
And if anyone can give me a heads up to a freebie program I can use to center the cluster in the timelapse I'd appreciate that. (I'm useless with scripts, so ppm center, or similar is out, and I can't get Castrator to work on Win8 )
That's a ripper JJJ
Excellent work.

jjj, Nebulosity will do it. It's not free, but also not that expensive - $US80. Save the individual aligned frames (not the stack) and run that through your video creator.
You can try before you buy but it will watermark the frames.

Maybe you could do it in PIPP (https://sites.google.com/site/astropipp/). I've used it to centre planetary stuff but I'm not sure how it'll go with a cluster.

I'm going to give De Shake in Virtual Dub a go. :) thanks

DSS also can do it. Under "Stacking Parameters" choose the "Intermediate files" tab then tick the box "create a registered /calibrated file for each light frame". DSS will then create a TIFF or FIT file. Actually that won't center it but it will stop it moving.

Cheers, I'll give that a go.
Been working on this for hours and just about had it.

Magnificent Jeanette, and I like the special effect sinking mount.

You can see during the last part of the time lapse, that the mount had finally hit solid ground. LOL

I ran the original Sinking Mount video through PIPP. It tried it's very best to center NGC 362 in the middle of the frame. But as you can see there is still a fair bit of shaking.

So I then opened that video in Virtual Dub and applied the Deshaker filter and voila!!! How freaking cool is that?? I should really have done something about those hot pixels though. LOL

wow shows what a difference processing can make, and those tools really made a difference, but I have to say I do enjoy the original the best - gives me that starship enterprise feel;)
