Hi All,
Sounds like a dumb question but my face is sore  from closing 1 eye to view through the EP. Does anyone where like an eyepatch or something to make it easier?

A very sensible and wise question! An eyepatch is an excellent accessory. You'll find that you see more with your face more relaxed without squinting. Search and you'll find some threads about eyepatch use for observing on IIS (and some about "Talk like a Pirate" day :D )

Check your pharmacies - they should have eyepatches. There are soft ones and hard ones. The hard ones are really to go over dressings I think, I find they hurt my face. I use a soft one which I'm fairly sure I bought from Scopestuff:

It takes a while, but the corresponding facial muscles will eventually rise to the occasion. You can tell that they're trained when you start looking like Popeye :D

Try viewing with both eyes open.
I never had that problem, or maybe over the years I've learned to relax and only use the eyelid muscles to keep the eye closed, not the whole face.

I've never had that problem either - I am blind in one eye. I guess you could consider that option too?

Tony.
+1 for keeping both eyes open. I used to squint, cover my eyes, do all sorts of things but if you can learn to just keep them both open, it's the best! :)
Plus using an eye patch means you cant really judge distances. In the dark if you had it on and went to grab something, you could end up tripping or doing something else silly

The sore eye problem is usually a problem for people who didn't do stuff like fire air guns or rifles when younger. I did that and haven't had a problem closing one eye all the time. Though I did get an eyepatch, which was supposed to make things better at the telescope, and it drove me nuts.
The advantage of keeping the other eye closed, is that when looking for faint things, and you can't find them with the eye you're using, just use the eye you've kept closed in reserve, as it's likely going to be more sensitive.
Regards,
Renato
