Took this last night using an 85mm lens.
This particular shot is just a single 90 sec exposure.
I haven't yet stacked the rest of the exposures or applied dark frames etc.

Andrew!!!

I have to congratulate you on your shot! That is fantastic!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And I love the strings of Black Neb. Don't know what it is about Black Nebula I like, but I sure do like seeing it.

That largish bluish neb to the south/south/west of Antares is the one Houghy and I spotted in our 20x80 knockies.

Circle shows the one we saw

Hi Andrew

That is an astonishing photo of a beautiful area. Really remarkable for 90 secs showing those dust lanes and subtle colours. You're a real whizz at this!

Cheers

Dennis

Nice image Andrew.

The orange nebula next to Antares is visible in 20x80 binoculars.

Great colour and detail. The Canon 85mm F1.2L has to be one of their best lenses. It is a bit soft on a full frame at the corners wide open (astigmatism) but your result speaks for itself. By the way no other lens can come close at that aperture and focal length. I am very envious as I can't justify another! lens even to myself but it is great that yours fills the gap in our general community.

Beautiful result.

Thanks everyone,

Bert I'm very excited about this lens and look forward to trying it out on more targets and on daytime objects as well. You're spot on about your evaluation of this lens.

Cheers

Yes what a great image esp. for a single exposure. Where was it taken? The sky must have been very dark :)

I have similar skies to Kulnura Scott.
Eventually I'd like to build a more permanent setup for the gear though.

Cheers.

Hi Andrew,
What else can I add except "Nice Shooting Tex".
I'll be keeping an eye out for the finished product.
