Hi guys, could anyone shed some light on this printing problem.
The printing starts out ok but as it nears the end I get theses faint colour lines of a light green and magenta, there also seems a cast of light green over the whole image.

The ink is brand new all cartridges have just been changed, the printer has gone through all the maintenance checks, like head alignment and nozzle checks, there are no blocked nozzles, and printer checks have passed.

So if anyone has encountered this, or knows of a solution I would be pleased to hear about it.

Thanks in advance.

Leon

Hi Leon,
Very strange problem indeed. I can't help wondering whether it is not an artifact generated by the software rather than the printer. The pattern being printed seems too regular to be a hardware problem. Have you updated the printer driver recently? Has the photo been processed in Photoshop or etc.? How does the photo look on the camera screen?
Been ages since we last communicated. Possibly because its been ages since I've had a good night with the scope to report. Hope the skies around your neck of the woods have been better than we've been getting in Melbourrne over the past year. I haven't had a good night with the scope since July 2013!
Regards,
Robert ;)

Hi Robert, yes time passes very quickly indeed, one year without any decent seeing you say, well we do live in Vic, I suppose you wonder why you even have a Scope.
Anyway thanks for your response, you may have a good point there, it has been processed a bit PS, what I might do is print the original that came straight out of the camera, and I will post my findings shortly.

Well here we go Robert, I printed the original, straight out of the camera on two printers, the first is a Pixma ix4000, and the second is a Pixma 990.

The first image you see here is out of the Pixma ix4000.
The second image here is from the Pixma 990.

It is pretty obvious then that it is actually the Printer itself that is causing the issues, as the same image on another printer comes out fine.

Would you agree with that?, if you have any further suggestions to resolve this issue i would be very pleased to hear from you, or anyone else please

Leon

Great test Leon.
Ok, now tell me, do the printers use the same driver or are they individula drivers for each? Has/have the driver(s) been updated? If so, is it a recent update?
I do indeed wonder why I have a scope. I'm even thinking about getting a bigger one! Oh dear!

It looks like blocked ink nozzles to me, so that you aren't getting full coverage of all colours consistently. I know you said that you have checked, but it certainly looks like partially blocked nozzles.

Put the printer through one or two cycles of its deepest "ink jet cleaning" routine, and then re-try.

Robert, the driver for the ix4000, was updated only a couple of weeks ago, have to admit i did have trouble at first because the printer didn't like Windows 8.1, however Canon sent me the link for the correct driver for this machine and it did work.
The other 990 uses a different drive and has been working for years very satisfactorily i might add.

Julian you maybe right, it dose seem like something is missing regarding the ink mixture, so i suppose it cant hurt doing another couple of deep clean runs.

Thanks for your responses.

Julian maybe right. Certainly worth the try of another clean or 2. It just seems strange that the problem only occurs at one end of the picture. A nozzle problem would, I think, be reflected throughout the print.
Interesting to note though that it is the printer with the recent driver update that is giving the trouble. Any chance of stepping back the driver?

Any chance of stepping back the driver?

Not sure what you mean Robert !! probably not though, as it is specifically for Win 8.1.

I take it that is the first time the printer has been used with this computer. One can usually step back the driver, but if this is the first, there's nothing to step back to. Perhaps you have another computer you could use?
