A piece of flywire over the front of the telescope.
My idea. Not sure I've seen anyone use it before

Ah excellent! I should have guessed that one...a couple of years back I was travelling with some new binoculars and on first light was seeing a really weird blocky effect, similar to this only without the colours...after half an hour or so I deduced it was the bug net :lol:
