It's still only a proposal, up for a vote at the IAU General Assembly next week.

No, Starcrazzy. The recommendation of the review committee will be put to the IAU Assembly next week. The Assembly has the final say - there's a few thousand members but scuttlebutt says that if the committee recommends it'll go through.

Nice, hopefully they trigger some more life!
Article on CNN today suggests that in a few billion years (if we're still here) the Moon will become a planet. Hmmm the youngest old planet will it be?

The Universe is a changing place...
There's been a dramatic revision to what is likely to be voted on tomorrow at the IAU meeting. Either no consensus will be reached - or a resolution (that is likely to instead be put forward) will be accepted that kicks Pluto out of the planet club.
