This was given to me by a regular customer of mine. He is a Vietnam war Vet, and lost all interest in astronomy after returning home.

It's in pretty good nick. Does anyone know if it is a common piece, or something I should perhaps store away?

I've got a copy so that makes two of us at least.

It was a forerunner to the Sky Atlas 2000, IIRC. If its in good condition my tendency would be to wrap it up and store it away for a another ten years.

Great find...

I have one in mint condition in the deluxe format which I bought from Astro Optical in 1973 for the huge amount of $15.... It was known as the Skalnate Pleso Atlas Of The Heavens Atlas Coeli... I then a few years later got the companion reference book The Allas Coeli Catalogue which listed the stars and DSOs along with their coordinates and other associated info in table form.... Very complete...... Its my pride and joy....

If you would like to learn more about Antonin Becvar, the author of this great star atlas, which was very popular among amateurs and professionals for over 20 years in Europe and North America ... here is the link

BTW in a few days it will be 50 years since he passed away.
