Hi Everyone,
This one is from last weekend, and has taken quite a while to process. Any advice or ideas to improve are always welcome.
Thanks for looking.

Image details:
Camera: Canon 1100D Modded
Scope: Skywatcher CPF2008 8" f4 Newt
Guiding: 4"f5 newt and QHY5, PHD
Mount: HEQ5 Pro
Exposure:
10 x 10sec
10 x 20sec
10 x 60sec
10 x 120sec
all @ ISO800
Processed in Pixinsight (love this software)
Larger version: http://www.astrobin.com/full/113161/C/

Edit: Did a little more playing around to remove some of the colour noise in the background. Second image attached for comparison. I created a synthetic Lum channel and did another round of deconvelution on it and then recombined. Not sure if I took it too far, your thoughts are welcome. :)

Really nice picture , like the star colours. Looked some pics up on the web and they show similar colours. Great job. Regards philip

That's just great Rex! I love all those golden stars swarming the white central "hive". The whole shot has a great intensity.
Cheers,

Thanks Phillip. I had to check some online photo's myself after I finished processing, because I was worried I didn't have an accurate representation. I felt better once I realised they had similar colouring.

Thank you Trevor. It's the first time I have ever used Deconvolution. I think I like it, and will be using it again.

Thank you Cam. Interesting way to describe this photo, I like your interpretation.

What a beauty Rex! My only captures of this have been burned out, so I'll look forward to trying this one out again :)

Thanks Dunk. I've imaged this object before without much success. I think this is my third go at it. With the other attempts I also had trouble not burning the core out, and to be honest I think I could probably shoot a set of 5 sec subs to make the core even better.

Thanks Marc. I actually am thinking of getting this printed on a canvas to hang up somewhere. I am pretty happy with it overall. I thought perhaps I had made the background a little too dark, but it kinda makes the glob pop.

My favourite cluster and a very nice rendering it. Excellent work.

Why the multiple exposures, Rex? You should only need two (at most) -- one to tease out the core and avoid burn, and the other to take care of the other fainter detail. I can't see that you get any benefit from 4 x durations, except processing headaches!

Thanks Rom. It's oneof myfavourites also.

The only answer I have for you Barry is, because it works. As stated in my post above, I have tried this object several times before and always struggled to bring out the detail and colour without blowing out the core. Having multiple exposures wasn't really harder to be honest, it just took longer because each exposure group was calibrated and stacked seperately then HDR combined. I actually thought it turned out ok, it is definately my best rendition of this object.

That's a keeper Rex. Great detail and colour, I love the fact you also caught NGC121 glob on the left and a beaut little open cluster on the extreme right of the frame, I cant seem to find that one cataloged anywhere, does anybody know if it has a name?

Thanks Bruce. I believe it's called Kron3 someone may correct me if I got it wrong. I think it's another glob as well. Link to Sinbad below. the interactive pic is pretty cool. make it full screen and have a look around. lol.

I've added another rendition to my first post. I did a little more playing around.

Worked well Rex!

The only thing I would tinker with is the background, a little too much yellow and red.
Hope you don't mind I had a tinker.

Cheers,

Justin.

Thanks Justin. No problems with you tinkering mate at all. I post my pics here to learn how to process them better, so thanks for taking the time to help.
