Hi Guys

NGC2736 Pencil Nebula in Colour Mapped Narrowband click here for big (http://fredsastro.smugmug.com/Photography/Astrophotography-1/i-B4SDLTk/A)
Taken on an RCOS 10" RC Scope at f9, SBIG STXL6303E Camera and PME mount at itelescopes Siding Spring Observatory.
Processed with CCDstack, Star Tools and Photoshop. 32 hrs Total exposure time.
SII,Ha,OIII. Mapped as RGB and RGB stars inserted.

Ha 14 hrs, 40min subs bin1. SII 15hrs 40min subs bin2, OIII 13hrs 40min subs bin2.

This is a straight RGB (mapped,no lum) with RGB stars, 1st time ive managed to get stars looking reasonable :P.

Not oft imaged in NB, RGB does look a bit more aesthetically pleasing, anyway .

Another one I never knew existed. It's like a southern veil nebula. Cool image Fred.

A little too high key for my liking Fred....I think it needs a little less contrast.

Remarkable exposure time. Doesn't anyone do 5 minutes anymore? :)

Thanks Guys.

Yes, bit contrasty. I do 5 mins subs for RGB stars, I recon that counts :D.

The hrs are a bit over the top, but when you can just click to go, its hard not to bother :P.

I've tried a few times but I can't warm to it, Fred  I must be too used to the red & blue renditions. I presume it's really dim in narrowband? I don't think I've seen many of these at long FL.

Interesting rendition Fred - a unique target for sure, Nice capturing

Nice round star Fred. The contrast is probably the only thing that is not working for me. I don't mind the colours and the detail is good. Though I wonder if you could selectively sharpen some of those fine wispy parts of the nebula?

BTW well mega'ed up.

Peter with 3nm filters you don't get much after 10 minutes. You barely get much after 20 minutes. So long subs is the way.

Looks like a background from Star Trek!
