I have been wanting to image in this area for some time, but for one reason or other I failed to do so until this last Astrofest. The key reason is that I don't have short enough focal length to grab enough sky... I am begging Anne-Louise to lend me her WO 70mm Zenithstar for our next outing :prey:.
Any rate, Modded 450D, 12 x 600 sec, ISO 800, WO 110mm Megrez, stacked and processed in Pixinsight. NGC4372, The Dark Doodad, and gamma Muscae.

That's an excellent image Tony, nice and contrasty. Well done with a 450D.

We missed you Mark... Adam had to soak up all your photons as well as his :)
Thanks Humayun, I just need to be able to grab more sky.
Thanks David.
Thanks Kevin

Nice shot Tony, a 72mm frame would be nice but your 90mm version looks good
Well done:thumbsup:

Very nice, Tony. You've done well! I've always wanted to image the Doodad but it would have to be a mosaic with my gear. Sorry I didn't get to AF this year either.
Cheers,
Rick.

Ah, good point... I should have said that I used a WO Type II X 0.8 flattener. The scope is 110mm Geoff.
We missed drooling over you kit, Rick.
The region was much more colourful than I expected. Thanks Justin
Thanks Mike. I can't wait to use Anne-Louise's scope next year (likely to be that long before we can organise some time under dark skies :D)

To say that it wasn't the same without you and Alan would be an understatement.
I didn't get as many targets as I would have liked, and seem to be having a few issues with dark frame management this year. Also have a few issues finding time and energy to process what I have got.

It does look like a big smiley. Cool shot. One of my fav widefield DSOs. Dark against starry background.
