Hi all

Here's my best attempt from Monday evening, taken at 17:57.

The image is not totally complete, I still need to process Europa individually and composite it on this image.

The 5 transit features are:
GRS
Red Jr
Io
Io's shadow
Europa's shadow

The merged WOZ/WOY spot can also be seen as the larger white spot to the right of Io's shadow in the NEB.

I captured 9 avi's on this night, this appears to be the best of them. I'll still progress through the others to make an animation, but unfortunately the quality of most frames will be fairly ordinary.

Processing these is very lengthy due to the poor seeing, I'm doing 3 point MAP alignment on each and every colour channel in each and every avi. It's taking forever. But when I compare the end result with the result after just 1 alignment point, it is worth it.

Usual capture details, 10" dob on EQ platform, 5x powermate + DMK21AF04. 35 seconds of each colour channel @ 30fps.

180 frames (out of 1000-odd) of each colour channel are used to stack, medium wavelets in registax, followed by FFT filter and LR deconvolution (18/1.7) in AstraImage. Curves/levels adjust in photoshop, to bring the background back to black (it was rather blue thanks to the early evening capture).

Thanks for looking.. still got a lot to go with processing of this night.. not as much image scale or detail as Lesters, but i'm fairly happy with this result.

[EDIT] I attached the final version of this image with separate channels and capture data.

Comments welcome.

Hi Mike

That is one sweet image to just sit back and take in, enjoying the beauty and interest locked in there. A great capture and I salute you on your advanced image processing techniques that reveal so clearly the majesty of this gas giant.

Well worth the effort from my perspective, so thanks!

Cheers

Dennis

Thanks guys. I'll try again on the 21st, where there's another GRS+Double shadow transit.

Hi Mike, still turning out the good I see. The consistent high quality you produce is fantastic and you always seem to be there at the right time too:thumbsup:
