Information received by John Sarkissian for the 2015 CWAS David Malin Awards.

I look forward to seeing the theme entries.. good opportunity for creativity.

I like the addition of 'Nightscapes' category too. I bet 90% of the widefield in this years comp were Nightscapes :)

----------------------------

Hello all,

It gives me great pleasure to announce the structure and theme for the 2015 CWAS "David Malin Awards".

The theme for 2015 is, "The Southern Cross".

An image of any kind where the Southern Cross (and its immediate region, including the Pointers) is a dominant component of the composition. The image can be made with any kind of camera, lens or telescope and with the Cross in any kind of setting, but it must not be a composite, though panoramas and mosaics from a single camera or CCD are acceptable.

We are also introducing a new category, "Nightscapes", that reflects the increasing popularity and evolution of this genre. In addition, the Solar System categories will be consolidated into a single Solar System category.

In summary, the categories are:

Deep Sky
Wide-Field
Solar System
Nightscapes
Animated - Scientific
Animated - Aesthetic
Theme - "The Southern Cross"
Junior

So, start planning your shots and help make next year's competition the most successful yet.

Good luck.

Regards, John Sarkissian

It was the only sensible course of action considering that one third of all entries this year were in the "wide field" category.

This looks good,be handy if this was a sticky.

I forgot to get my entries in this year. But keen to get some in next years event,I have had a lot of joy from the Canon G12 I won last time I had and entry in,and already have some locations in mind that could be good for the theme.

Was good to see some of the amazing entries in this years event, not sure if there is a link to them, only saw a few-the winning image was great.
