Hey garron.
As long as you are enjoying your new scope... that's the main thing.
If you wanna see a planet, head outside with your new beastie shortly after sunset and look up almost directly overhead.
The brightest object you can see up there is Jupiter.
Try not to confuse it with nearby Antares (bright star in Scopio) though:P
glad to hear you are having fun :)
go for jupiter next. in that scope you should see the bands quite easy :)

Garron, old son, you've got yourself into an area where no sane man ever steps. There is a strong possibility that this first venture into looking up will lead you into a life of penury and disappointment. Some are lucky in the pair of jeans their parents bought them on their birthday; most are not.
I wish you well in the never ending journey on which you seem to have launched yourself. You silly, silly, boy.

Nice one Garron
I remember the first time I had a good look at the moon through a telescope. It was what got me started in this hobby. The best thing about the moon is that you get a different view of it every night. Even though you are using a cheap scope you will be amazed at what you will be able to see.
