Hi All,

Here are the links to my captures for Disappearance around 9:20pm and re-appearance around 10:13pm from Sydney.

Used a ZWO ASI 120MC webcam and 5 x powermate on the 200mm Newtonian reflector on the HEQ5 Pro.

Videos straight from the camera but simply downsized from 1280x960 to a more manageable 640x480 for upload.

Disappearance: (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8UA9kTwXhEk) You can see the moon Mimas? disappear with a pop after the rings vanish....:)

Re-appearance: (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VxFvlOPcwlI) I was adjusting the exposure to show the moon surface at one point to show the contrast between the two.

A couple of screen grabs below as a teaser. :D

Two occultations in the same year - inconceivable!!!!

Cheers

Chris

Very nice, Chris .
Actually- 3 occultations of Moon & Saturn. The first one earlier this year was a daytime one which proved challenging for many people. Colin Legg from Western Australia took amazing pics and a timelapse of that one.

I'm still giddy with excitement after last night's one :D.

Thank you Andrew, John and Suzy.

You are right Suzy, but it was only two that I captured, this one and the May one, although this time I also got (most) of the reveal which I didn't get at all last time....:)

I might have to find some music to add to these perhaps?

Cheers

Chris

That's excellent, both the images and the timelapse. And the Mimas bonus was nice too!

Thank you Ray :D

Yep, apart from the few clouds at the beginning and almost missing the complete re-emergence, it really got the adrenalin going as the time ticked closer to each event. The seeing was all over the place but I am glad I could capture this and the May one as well.

The ol' 8" got dusted off again for some more planetary work, it's been quite lonely since I got the ED80 :(

Cheers

I didn't think it need it. But War of the World's I think would be pretty cool :D ...... *dom!* *dom!* dom!*
Or however it is that those notes are spelled in written form .
