Hi all,

Had a great view of the occultation tonight, using my little 130mm Newtonian. Spent most of the time doing visual observation, but also managed a couple of snaps through the eyepiece a few minutes before ingress and after egress (hand-holding the Canon S200 that I won at the David Malin Awards last month :)).

First time I've seen a planetary occultation, and it was definitely worth it!

Cheers,
Stephen

It was quite stunning visually - your pics are cool. I have only seen 3 planets glide behind the Moon - Jupiter in 2005 http://www.pbase.com/mattwastell/image/120186593
and these recent two Saturn ones - loved them all!

Nice
Just realised how lucky I was to get my scope setup just in time for this. Might be a few years before we see another

Thanks Peter and Matt! Yes, it was stunning to watch visually! A great demonstration of relative sizes and the speed at which the Moon moves!

Cheers,
Stephen
