Hi,
While waiting for the Helix to rise I imaged NGC 6559 and friends after seeing Pauls image.
It reminds ne of a cosmic ocean, never imaged this region before and was surprised how it's come up with only 90 minutes of data.
Rich colourful region even with an unmodded DSLR.
Unmodded canon 1100D, baader type III coma corrector.
18 x 5 minute subs, ISO 1600.
Stacked in DSS, processed in PS7 and Cs2.
Cheers,
Justin.

Nice shots, Justin. Reminds me I have a bunch of data for this region that needs a reprocess...

Thanks Kevin!
Think I'll stick with a cosmic ocean, much more evocative than some smelly old toes.:P
Thanks Joe!
Started your next scope yet?
Thanks Hugh!
Great colour range in this region, so many ways it could be processed.
Cheers,
Justin.

Nice image Justin and a satisfying collection of maritime thingies in the one net.
Is that the 8"?

Nice capture as usual. Maybe a touch bright / low contrast, but overall, a NICE image of a gorgeous region.

Hi Justin.
Great looking photo.
I really like the colours and composition.
I've been off the scene for while but your photos are still looking better and better.
When you get your hands on a CCD...wow!

Thanks Simmon!
Still having fun with the DSLR, still learning more so will be imaging with the 1100D for some time.
Thanks Trevor!
For some reason I seem to see sea creatures more than any other animal or object.
Yep, the 8".
Thanks Lewis!
One of those personal preference things, played around quite a bit with this, looked best to my eye.
Thanks Ross!
Great to see your back.:)
Look forward to your images.
Tempting to get a CCD but I still can improve my DSLR images, so I'll stick to it for a while yet.
Cheers,
Justin.
Good Justin, poor data very well processed ;-)
Don't get a ccd now, try to brig out the best from your dslr :-)

Very nice for such a comparatively short exposure Justin. As some of the responders have said I wouldn't be rushing out to buy a CCD. A DSLR obviously works very well for you.
