Saturn Occultation

Woozer! My first chance to observe in months and the clouds roll in... then rolled out again.

Took a gander at Saturn sliding along the lunar hoziaon with a 6 inch refractor at 30X What a delight! My son nearly wet himself with excitement...

Wow This was close to a miracle.
I first went to a site which I didn't think was ideal, but I didn't think it was that bad with light pollution, so I started to RUN with my dob to another darker location. That was better. I took out my dob and the finderscope came off!!!! Luckily the moon is not difficult to find. I found it but the dob was not collimated any more after running... Luckily I did have my laser collimator, so I managed to collimate it JUST in time for the occultation...
I even managed to take a couple of pics which don't seem to be so bad...
Now I am watching the exit online...

PPS: Yeah, I just looked at the pics again and they are better than expected considering how utterly desperate I was just a couple of minutes before the occultation!

The cloud cleared nicely at Tinderbox south of Hobart. Not an occultation here in Tassie but it was equally inspiring in a different way to see the moon slip past Saturn. The point at which Saturn was directly above the south pole and directly in line with the terminator was spectacular. The south pole area and the terminator were rich in shadows and mountainous relief with Saturn appearing to hover directly above. Titan was just visible.

Hi Guys and Girls
I decided to get the old telescope out last night to watch Saturn past by the moon. While I was watching I just grabbed my phone, stuck it up to the eyepiece and took some photos.
Now before we go any further, I have never done any Astrophotography before and I know you guys will think its pretty lame, but hey! I was pretty happy with the results.
Now im just using a 8" GSO dob with a 25mm eyepiece that came with it and a Nokia Lumina 520 phone, conditions at my place where very cold and clear and I was having trouble with fogging of the lense.
I have also cropped the last 2 pics, thats why they are bigger.
Anyway have a look
