Sunspot 904 - Parts 1 & 2 united. Brisbane 14 Aug 2006.

Hello,

After a little Registax magic and a stitch up in Corel PhotoPaint 12, we are delighted to bring you Sunspot 904 in its entirety!

Brisbane on 14th August 2006, 10:32am AEST (GMT+10).
Celestron C9.25, Astrozap full aperture Baader Solar Filter, Vixen x2 Barlow. 2 pane mosaic made up from 108 and 32 frames, each from an 1800 frame avi.
Philips ToUcam 840K, 1/100sec at 5fps. Acquired in K3CCDTools. Processed in Registax.

It’s a little soft for my liking, with the seeing at around 4 to 5/10.

Thanks guys. I started early this morning, around 8:45am to see if the cooler temperatures might produce better seeing. If they did, I was unable to notice due to the effects of the Sun being at a lower altitude.

I also tried imaging through a Lumicon UHC filter, and an Astronomik IR Pro to see if they helped but in the end, returned to my trusty old Baader IR Block as recommended by Erwin.

Sunspot 904 looks different again this morning but the jet stream is fair whipping its way through the Brisbane skies so the images on screen are really, really fuzzy, with just the occasional crisp one flashing into view. And that is at prime focus with no Barlow.

Hmm, looks like another difficult day at the office.......
