View Full Version here: : Synscan V3 handcontroller
Hi there,
First time trying a post so hope it works. I have updated the firmware for my controller with the latest 3.35 version. I noticed in the V4 controller manual that you can change the alignment stars to the Bayer designation. I would prefer this but can't find it in the utility menu? Does it only work on the V4 or have I missed something.
Thanks
Paul :)

Hi Paul,If you visit the SW website you can view/ download the entire user's manual for 3.35 [46 pages long], which shows every available function. I've never seen anything about changing star designations,
so I think it must be confined to V4, although that is a bit strange,
because new functions are normally added to the hand controller firmware, and only physical constraints prevent any new functions working with certain mounts. [You can't use the variable lighting
in the polar scope with my older mount, for instance.]

Hi Raymo,
Thanks for the reply. I thought it would be a firmware upgrade too but perhaps it didn't load properly. Its accessed via the setup menu.
"setup\alignment stars\ then there is a choice of "adv.filter" or "sort by" or "set star name". The other two are on my controller but the star name isn't. Perhaps I should download the upgrade again and try it. I emailed sw but no reply as yet. The bayer desig would be great as I have real problems getting my head around the other names.
Cheers

Good luck; I'm not at home, so can't check mine to see what functions
it offers.
