I live 150km south of Brisbane, as the crow flies.
This is the view from my place showing the light pollution on my northern horizon.
The star on the right is lambda And.
50mm lens, 20 sec, f2, ISO 1600, 1:50 am yesterday.

The low clouds probably make it look even worse. But having had a chance to compare the naked eye limiting magnitude from my parents house 13km out in the Western suburbs of Brisbane, and my own about the same distance from the Perth CBD, it's even worse over here :(
Bring on the zombie apocalypse or the collapse of civilisation from peak oil. At least we'll get dark skies again and the traffic will improve!
