Had some clear skies for a few nights a few weeks back.

The Lagoon Nebula core area.

Cool close up Greg. I like the high-res. Some nice details in there.

Being *really* picky...but it looks like there is a little horizontal blooming going on.

Otherwise very tidy

Thanks Peter. I am not sure if this is a defect with my camera but it does tend to do that compared to my other cameras which don't. Not sure if its the chip or the coatings. But bright stars can cause it some trouble. It may be just the small wells.
Still a nice camera but it has some limitations there. I am wondering how an AOL/STX11 would go on it. Martin is getting some stunning results with that using the same scope albeit at a better location.

I really like the detail in the nebula. A starless image would look pretty cool I reckon. Good colour in the nebula too.

Thanks Paul. Its the most detail I've ever gotten on the Lagoon Core area. Starless could be worth a try.

Nice details, Greg. I expect that's about as good as can be done without especially good seeing...

Thanks Rick. Yes I think so too. Perhaps an AO unit could take it a bit further.

Snuck a peak at this one recently when doing my periodic scan of your web site Greg :D...looks every bit as good as that by the AAT (http://ftp.aao.gov.au/images/captions/aat031a.html)

Nice work

Noooo. :P It looks wonderful as it is.

Almost certainly. Blooming protection...no matter what chip you use... is not infinite.

You have some serious aperture with that CDK, hence my thinking is you'd probably expect it.

Great image Greg. Having much fun on the bus zooming in and panning around on the iPhone. Detail at that level is excellent.

wow, that's a great image Greg, even with the hideous "blooming"

Naah, that's just excellent with wonderful colour and detail.

Excellent work Greg, nice composition and detail. The stars look a bit big and intrusive, I might not have ever said that before because I like stars. Have a go at starless anyway and see if you can curve the middle down a bit, somewhat blown.

Thanks Ray. I am happy with the detail I got.

Very nice Greg, up close and personal for sure. The core area of the Lagoon is an amazing piece of sky and you've captured it in great detail. I like the colours too. Thanks for the view :)

Wow, that's certainly very crispy Greg,

The colour and resolution is spot on and the alignment of the diffraction spikes is picture perfect, very nice overall.

It is an example of how to take an often photographed object to the next level.

Well done.

Don't you love it when your in the middle of a project and someone posts an awesome image of similar focal length and framing. ;):)

Oh well, there's nothing like a bit of pressure for motivation. :face: If i can get it looking halve as good as this I'll be very pleased. You've done a great job!
