Quite excited with this image!:party::).
It's a result of some mods I made to my 8" astrograph, it's certainly made a difference with the amount of detail I'm getting.
I've nearly eliminated flexure in the optical system and have quite accurate optical alignment.
Certainly way better than I've ever had before!!
Stars are quite small now but still not perfect, I think this due to guiding.
Another polar alignment and a final tweak with the guiding and it should be humming.:D
I've supplied a crop as well to show the detail.
Also a link to a previous image to show the difference.

These are excellent. Great framing and the capture and processing are well done.

Thanks Kevin!
Yep no worries, as long as you take the cold temps too!:P
Thanks Bob!
The real test will be galaxies.
Hopefully pick up more detail on these too.
Thanks Alexander!

How's the ankle going?
Thanks Rick!
Yep, will post the repro.
I've been playing around and even though there's good data it's quite difficult to push it much further without it looking overdone.
Thanks Rod!
Clouds are back unfortunately , certainly need to make the most of every opportunity at the moment.
Thanks Trevor!
Thanks Greg!
Thanks David!
Looking forward to re-imaging more favourites now the scope is working well.
Cheers,
Justin.

Hi,
Here's a repro of the Corona Australis complex.
A little more colours saturation, brightness and contrast as suggested by Marc and Rick.
I did a dozen different versions but I think this one is best?
Cheers,
Justin.

The repo is nice. I'm always wondering how much colour to give it.

Corona Australis seems to be a little more difficult to get the colour balance right.

Justin.

whatever you did to the scope was worth the effort, that's a beautiful image. the repro has lovely subtle colour and effortless fine resolution - great work.

Thanks Ray!
Actually all the mods were inspired by what you did to your 200mm astrograph.
I couldn't believe the detail that was coming from yours, I know your CCD was a good match but I figured any improvement mechanically would have to be worth it.
I'll post some images later of the mods, but mainly it's just washers.
Still have to sort out some minor balance issues and guiding yet, but at least I'm heading in the right direction.
Cheers,
Justin.

Thanks Justin, the EQ8 and 12" newt. i haven't had the time and or weather to get it up and running at all yet, I had issues with the old synscan firmware pointing completely in the wrong direction etc plus a few other teething issues.
Getting closer to being able to take a picture but progress has been slow. But now thanks to Richard's recent posts in the DIY observatory i will likely get the absco pool pump cover 'observatory' http://www.simplysheds.com.au/garden-sheds-pool-pump-covers-c-11_43.html which should free up time in setting up to fine tuning - fingers crossed  i've only had the mount for a year. at this stage just a 600d, i have been considering a mono but with this weather i don't think i'd ever manage to finish a picture so am leaning back again toward the cds-600d.
cheers

Yep,
This winter has been full on!!
Hope you can get your setup under cover, certainly makes imaging a lot easier.
Planning on sliding roof or moveable shed?
Should be able to get some good images with a 12" Newt, some of the best images on this forum are from 12" scopes.
Cheers,
Justin.

Thanks Justin these little sheds seem to be find of the century as they are built with the roof designed to flip open backwards - no modification necessary (apart from sealing etc). they are small so no standing room but will house the scope snuggly. Thanks - yes that's the plan!!
