When i purchased my GSO 8" imaging newt i was disappointed to realise the dovetail supplied with this scope will not fit in the NQE6Pro dovetail clamp. These newish NEQ6Pro mounts have the dual narrow and wide clamp so either bar type can be used, except the clamp assembly is 120mm long and the bevelled area of the GSO dovetail bar is only 100mm and then it becomes just a vertical wall bar with no bevel. So it cannot grip the scope rail properly and if I had started alignment the scope probably would have fallen out of the clamp (it was holding against the vertical walls of the rail thing.

It looks like this one:

I will let Luke know about this and see what they do when they bundle it with the NEQ6 as per the deal offered on the website. Luckily for me I had a spare dovetail bar that I could use.

Anyone else encounter this problem?

GSO copied the original Vixen bar, usable only on Vixen mounts and their clones (EQ3, EQ5, CG5 etc), where they work superbly (lock in and no fore/aft shift). I use them, since I have Vixen scopes and mount.

I spoke to Luke, he is sending me a new bar. He is going to speak to GSO re the bar they are providing, and there has to be a general review of other GSO products to make sure the bars provided will fit the NEQ6 clamp. In the mean time, all of the current stock will have these Vixen short bar copies in the box. If your buying a GSO imaging newt of this size range it is worth asking the supplier (in advance) to check the bar, especially if you have an NEQ6Pro with the new mount clamp. Bintel potentially also has this issue with theirs and the question should be asked.

Glen I had this exact problem. The dove tail bar you are showing in your image is almost the same the same as the dovetail bar of my Meade SN10, very old style. The puck is longer then the actual angled section of the dovetail bar and can not grip.

Please also note the issue I had with the new style puck of neq6pro, as you tighten the two knobs the pull down section is not secure and collapses downwards, this can cause your dovetail bar to slip out. I all most dropped mine and I now have two pieces of aluminium bar to fill the gap under it to help prevent this. I will be purchasing a ADM puck soon as these have two steel rods to prevent this happening. Very poor dovetail securing puck IMHO.
