Hi Peeps
Just a few shots from my backyard testing the new Tamron 150-600mm on my d5300. Lot of smoke around today.
Very happy with what it can do all shots were taken in Auto just for a Test and starting @150mm then Zoomed @ 600mm.
cheers

I think the comm tower shots about sums it up :-)
A useful lens I think. Looks impressive too.

Graeme it's a great lense .My only problem is that when you shoot directly at the moon and Sun with a 1.4extender you will get internal reflections.I use mine mostly in manual and live view focus. It is excellent value.
Cheers Derek

Great work! nice kit!
This sounds like its better that the 150-500 from Sigma.
approx what sort of dollars is this 150-600 ?
My 400L has well and truly paid for its self in royalties and magazine
articles,I wonder what lens I might buy next.
About $1200-$1300 Chris, have a look here

Thanks Leon.
The images in thread make me think its better than 150-500 Sigma, had a go of one of those, and was not overly fussed. This Tamron one could be worth looking at a bit more, wonder what its like on birds, and how heavy it is-might be harder to hump around the bush.
Be interested to see some animal/bird images.

Thanks for the heads up Derek,
Leon price sounds about right This one was $1198 + a free Joby strap from Ted's pre order had to wait like 3 months :(
Chris it is not light 1.9kg and it does feel very heavy got it to take birds but as always new gear = rain snow and all the bad things hope to get out when the weather clears to see how it goes.
cheers
Graeme.

Thanks.
I was just told Canon have released a 100-400 L mk II (after 16 yrs)
think its around 2.5K
One of the major factors for me keeping on with the 400 L prime is weight and fairly small space it takes up.
This Tamron appears good value.

Interesting results. Very long lens! I wouldn't mind 600mm for wildlife. It is probably heavier than I'd be happy to carry around though :(
My wife and I have shared her 100-400L since she bought it in 2004, I'm looking forward to when the new one is actually released to see if it's lighter and by how much.
I have often thought of forgoing all of the above and getting a 200mm f/2.8 L + 2x tele. End up with a very lightweight 400mm F/4 lens.

impressive results. were you using the lens hood on the shots? I find I must use the hood on the 300 f2.8 or the shots loose contrast.
