I have found a source of excellent second hand books at reasonable prices.
How about The Milky Way by Bok and Bok (the latest 5th edition hardcover) for $US3.90. This classic is not yet dated. I found it a little hard to get into, but was repaid by some excellent information packed into this as yet unsurpassed work for the amateur.
I also purchased Galaxies by Tim Ferris for $US2.95
A Brief History of Time: The Updated and Expanded Tenth Anniversary Edition $US7.70
Cosmos by Sagan $US2.95
Find the Constellations by Rey $US3.94
Burnham's Celestial Handbook $US2.95
Coming of Age in the Milky Way
by Ferris, Timothy $US 2.95
and lots of other classics which are still current knowledge, and well worth reading. The Carnegie Atlas of Galaxies was a bit beyond my current resources, but still only $124.95, with the Hubble Atlas at only $39.95.
where are these bargains?

the postage does add a bit, but for what you get (and the ones I got were second hand but PRISTINE) this is excellent value.
