This is probably not the most suitable target for a DSLR, it has low surface brightness, but the last time I tried to image this with an ED80 and my old K-x I totally and miserably failed. I needed to redeem myself.

What I like about this pic is all the little galaxies in the background. I'm amazed I can pick that sort of thing up with a DSLR. Average data for most, but this was a big effort for me.

327 x 1 minute subs unguided for a total of about 5.5 hours, Skywatcher ED100 at F9, Pentax K-5.

That's not bad at all Kevin.

I imaged NGC 247 a couple of years ago, found it hard to get it right.

Cheers,

Justin.

A bunch of small fuzzies there, Kevin!

This is quite a good image of this fairly plain looking galaxy and testement to what a very modest imaging system can achieve with a little care, nice work Kev

It is a tricky one Justin. It's big but faint.

Thanks Rick, yes I was surprised at how many little galaxies pop up in the background.

Thanks Mike. It's just an image through your finderscope really. ;)

I have another galaxy and some nebula in the cooking pot, waiting for the Moon to clear so I can build more time with them.
