Hi All,

Hmm, well, I seem to have cracked the dodgy stars problem, I turned off the hot pixel clean feature in DSS and the cores of my stars stopped being splotchier than a bird poo on a freshly cleaned duco.

So, here, is a 2 hour effort of the Trifid Nebula with darks, flats & bias.

5 min exposures (coz I can now with the ED80 - hee hee) and using the CLS filter from Sludgetown Heights, NSW....

So, I am slightly chuffed with this one, now, on to the Centaurus A subs :)

Nice shooting. I've read about others having that same DSS problem too.

Good luck with Cent A. Post it up when it's finished.

Thanks Kevin, will do, still having some issues with the colour cast on that one, but won't be long I hope.

Thanks Andrew, it has been a while, but I am loving the ED80 / Atik combo now that I have the hang of it. It didn't turn out half bad this one eh?

Cheers

Thanks Bob, I am glad you liked it

One day I may end up moving out of this light dome and get some quality subs, but for now, filtering is all I can do until I splurge on a mono camera I think.

Cheers

Nice work Chris. I used to have an observatory in my backyard at Kellyville and there was a lot of light pollution so that is a great effort.

Greg.

Turned out very nicely mate, just imagine what you'd get from a darker site like Lostock or SPSP.

Cheers Greg, I am glad I bought (sneakily) the 2" front mounted CLS filter to fit onto the focal reducer, it really does clean up the subs, likewise, the flats I took for this set smoothed the whole thing out.

There is NO noise reduction done on this either - hence why I am chuffed :D

I can only wish, but the commute would kill me :)

Onwards & upwards Chris, when the going get tough - the tough get going hey, besides, you have got what it takes too, plenty of smarts and dedication
All the best with it.

Ive captured my '1st' set of darks for an image so'll be interesting to note/ recognise the difference
