I have bought a 106 FSQED. I also got the reducer QE to go with it.

Now I plan to use the QSI683WSG8 as my imaging camera.

I want to use the reducer and my Optec 2" rotator together.

Now the reducer has a back focus of 72.2mm which means I cannot put the rotator in between the reducer and camera (the back focus of the camera is 54mm with Astrodon filters).

So this means that if I want to use the rotator I have put it into the space between the focusor and the reducer. The rotator is 41mm thick.

My question is: Is this actually possible? Anyone have any idea what the focus point distance is from the focusor racked right out.

Does this help Paul?

Why not contact Fred at TNR, he would have all the answers you need Paul. You might put this question to the Uncensored tak group. The guys from TNR monitor all the questions put up there.

Good idea Pete. Though from talking to Wysi last night he reckons I just should not use the reducer at all and just go with the native focal length and get one adapter made up from the focusor to the rotator. Sounds like a plan to me. If I want a wider field of view then I will need a larger sensor.

That gives me the info but typically for Tak there is no diagram for where the back focus begins on the scope itself. That info would be more helpful. Thanks for that all the same.

Paul, I think you have made the right choice.
With my BabyQ, with a native 200mm of back focus, I had more room to play than a 106ED with only 178mm. But even so, was barely able to get my reducer into the imaging train. I used a FLI PDF focuser as well as FW and OAG so I had to remove the Captains Wheel rotator and rack the scope's focuser within a few mm of right in to get these things in. Your AO at 40 plus mm sounds to me like it would be a non-starter.

With the Reducer it wont work there is not enough backfocus left for it to fit, which is a pain, I like mine been reduced but at the sacrifice of no rotator.

If there was a way to get a rotator to fit inbetween the reducer and QSI that would be awesome. but its not out there at present.
