View Full Version here: : F1 - Silverstone Sunday 6 July 21:45 AEST TEN
Coverage of the British Grand Prix starts at 21:45 AEST tonight on TEN.
Last night's qualifying session was incredibly surprising with the drizzle
setting the cat amongst the pigeons.
The two Ferraris and the Williams knocked out in Q1 and the last sector
of the last lap in Q3 completely re-shuffling the top ten.
Rosberg's P1 lap from the on-board camera was incredibly smooth given
how many others had become unstuck in the slippery conditions.
Gutierrez drops 10 places for an unsafe release in the pits at Austria.
Chilton drops 5 for an unscheduled gearbox change.
Maldonado qualified 15th, but has been disqualified from qualifying
for a fuel infringement. However, he will be permitted to start from 20th
position on the grid.
Ericsson and Kobayashi failed to meet the 107% requirement but have
been permitted to race at the stewards' discretion starting behind Maldonado.
Ricciardo might have his work cut out for him if he gets stuck behind Perez
again as Perez has been going long on the tyres in recent races.
The Williams and the Ferraris and Hamilton coming up through the
pack will make for an interesting race.

Dan pulled off a pearler tonight to get 3rd, did 37 laps on the softer of the 2 compound tyres to do a 1 stopper and just edge out Jenson Button.

I didn't record it Torana 68, I sat up and watched the broadcast. We are two hours behind the East remember. It's about 1am Eastern time when we get to see it.

Here's a suggestion: If you're watching (or are going to watch) a delayed broadcast, whether recorded at home or not, and you don't yet know the result, don't go reading threads about it! :)
The Alonso/Vettel tussle was fabulous to watch. :)
So, you knew it was delayed but you read the thread anyway and then get huffy? Haha that's gold.
Actually, we get it live here in the west too, have done since Ten took over from Nine all those years ago.
Live on One, then a delayed replay on Ten.

I set out to watch it live. Watched the first lap mess and was waiting for the restart. The next thing I knew it was all over at when i woke about 2:00 AM.
Got set up next night to watch the replay, was waiting for the start and dropped off again, not a big worry when I woke with 10 laps to go. Saw about another lap. Missed the rest Woke at 4:00 AM, all over. GRR!
Oh well! I will try to stay awake for the next one.

I was reading Gary's report on the practice sessions while waiting for the race to start, and didn't realise that Exfso's post just above it was
written after the race. It caught my eye, and that was it.

It was an excellent race. I found myself smiling when Nico's gearbox conked out. The Alonso/Vettel radio calls were classic! :)
Raikonen's crash was spectacular - I was actually worried for a bit when I realised he'd hit a "bare" steel crash fence. :eyepop: Glad he's alright.
:lol::rofl::lol:
Hi Ron,
Thanks to the link to the article. A good read.
The on-board camera view of the final stoush where Alonso and Vettel
were side-by-side, their wheels meshing between that space between
the front and rear wheels, was breathtaking!
By the way, when they repeat the race on ONE a day or two after they
show it on TEN, you can capture it in HD. It is a pity the on-board cameras
are still SD but it may be a limitation of how much wireless bandwidth
they have available to stream all that data from the cars.
Plus he only had that back operation in France in November of last year.
Reports are, however, he only bruised his leg and ankle.
There were suppose to be test days today and tomorrow at Silverstone
for the teams but the suggestion was that Raikkonen would rest for Germany.
Massa was unlucky. Had some problem and didn't get a start from the
grid until the pack was way down the track, attempts to catch-up and
gets the surprise of the day when the Catterham blocking his view
moves and reveals the pile of mess that was Raikkonen's Ferrari
ricocheting across the track in front of him.
If it happened all in Bullet Time like in The Matrix it would be one thing,
but the reality was that he must have had the blink of an eye to react.
He did well to avoid what could have been far worse for both drivers.
