It is good to look back over older photos with a fresh eye from time to time. I posted the original version of this image just over a year ago, and at the time I did like it. Looking back on it now though, the colour temperature was way too blue, so I decided to reprocess the image to go for a more natural/neutral look. I hope you like the change.

I like parts of each process of the shot, eta carina in the orginal pops but its a bit cool for my taste.
I think the new one wins for me with the Aurora the star of the shot.

Very nice repro. I like it.
Is this a change of style for you as your sky has often been bluish and I always put it down to your artistic style? I didn't mind it at all and see it as a characteristic of the 5D2 (it may be harder to achieve with other Canon models?). But that particular shot the sky was a bit overly blue but the overall image is so stunning I didn't have attention on it really.
Greg.

An amazing shot both before and after the repro.
I'm actually not quite sure which one I prefer - I'm still deciding how to best process my own attempts so it's interesting to see & compare two different versions.

Thank you so much everyone :D
I do prefer a slightly blue/black sky still in my images Greg and that does seem to be my style, but in this case I felt it was far too blue and needed to be toned down. If I view it individually it's not too bad to my eyes but I viewed it next to someone's elses more neutral image the other day and I immediately hated my own. I know I can be a bit too heavy handed sometimes so I am trying to go a little more natural lately.
