Anyone seen these babies?
Meade are calling them "Tele-Extenders", but they're basically 4-element "super-apochromatic" (my term!) barlows. They sound impressive. They come in 2x, 3x and 5x, plus a 2x 2" model! But they're ridiculously expensive!

Looks like Meade is trying to take on the PowerMates.

You can read all about them here:

I'm tempted by the 2" (get thee behind me Satan!)

mmm funky looking things.. they're going for a nice new looking design with the S5000 stuff.

How much are they, and wonder when will they be available in Aus?

Probably ages considering their stock levels of their eyepieces..they were all supposed to off been released in January but they only have limited stocks in the States.... ATM.....they look great but yes very expensive.

Give it 3-6 months.....

Bintel have them on their site. $230 for the three 1.25" models and $320 for the 2" one!
...now, what was my credit card limit again?

Yes but they dont have them in stock......as of last week Bintel didn't have any series 5000 in stock.....and if they did get some in they will only be shorter focal length superwide eyepieces....nothing in Ultra has arrived in Australia as yet...but its worth asking just in case....I really dont see us getting these for a few more months yet...

Maybe Bob (Astro-Guy) can let us know what they have and havn't been getting in the US regarding to the Meade 5000.....I can tell you 1 thing for sure...we wont get them before the US.
