Hi all,

end of financial year and possible tax refund. woo hoo! :D

so, looking at domes, now.

are there any other options in AUS besides SkyShed PODs?

I notice that Sirius Domes' website is no longer active, so assume they are no longer selling them here?

I have put an enquiry in about the SkyShed POD.

Not sure if this will work but perhaps you could try http://www.atscope.com.au/sirius.html for information on Sirius domes, Mark

Thanks, mark.

I saw that site but thought that since the Sirius website was down the ATS site might be an old page.

will send them an email.

A new Sirius dome was bought for a location in Perth recently, so they are available one way or another. They are a little flimsy I think, but seem to do the job for most people. Much more expensive than a SkyPod if I remember right.

Your other alternative is a roll off roof of course, which has the advantage of not looking like an observatory.

I am very happy with my Sirius dome, mounted on a home built circular wall. The dome rotates smoothly with a push from one finger and no leaks. Mark

thanks, Roger. More expensive, eh? well, will have to email and get some costs. My Tax refund is not going to be too big.

thanks, mark. I would probably have to by the whole kit as I am just not that handy. but the "no leaks" part is encouraging.

Scope dome is another option. Contact Rally for these domes. Superb quality, thicker than a Sirius, cheaper to automate and good quality electronics with good service from local and OS people.

Hi Paul,

thanks for the idea. they certainly look neat in all senses of the word.
that door in the dome- i keep hearing "open the pod bay doors, HAL".
