Hello
Last Weekend I went to San Esteban, a dark place at about 100Km from Santiago.
One of my targets was to see what I could get from this great Globular cluster.

My setup was this time a C8 equiped with Hyperstar (F/2) mounted on the CGEM and the QHY8L camera.

The Night was exceptionaly clear and dry.

I used new ascom drivers for the QHY8L, and for the first time since I have this camera, I had no issues with the flat frames :)

I got 26 exposures of 10 minutes and another 26 exposures of 30 secs in order to combine them in HDR.

Here higher resolution: https://www.flickr.com/photos/astro_gvanhau/14554208754/sizes/k/

Hope you like the result.

Hi Geert,

Is that patch of luminosity at about 4 o'clock a reflection?

Cheers,
Rick.

Hello Rick.
I'm not 100% sure. I've had reflections before using hyperstar, but they are very different. Not many long exposures out there to compare...will try to find out next time.

Geert,

The deepest image of Omega I can recall is this one by Marco: http://www.glitteringlights.com/Images/Open-and-Globular-clusters/i-7SjVj9d/3/X3/NGC5139_LRGB-X3.jpg

It shows the same faint stuff as in your image at 10 o'clock but I don't think I can see the patch you show at 4 o'clock.

Cheers,
Rick.

Very nice Geert. You just need to correct the magenta colour cast. Fabulous detail and depth.

Greg.

You are right Rick, may be the patch is a reflection of omega it self on the camera's IR filter or on the hyperstar lens...I'll try to verify this next time.

Thank you Greg. I will verify color calibration.
