Decided to re-visit this well imaged part of the sky and perhaps foolishly....have taken on the task of making a rather large mosaic....

Part of the project can be seen here (http://www.atscope.com.au/BRO/gallery315.html)

This is going to be absolutely spectacular.

The detail will be beyond the charts!

Looking forward to it.

That is very nice. Love the perfection of the background/stars.

The trouble with mosaics is the first 4 panels aren't too painful but adding extra rows or columns adds up fast.

A great start, Peter! The combination of FOV and resolution should be quite something.

Makes me happy!!
Such clarity. Poster prints when done?
Can't wait to see the finished mosaic.
Impressive again Peter.

Love it!

The only other one that I have seen that can compare is this one: http://ollypenrice.smugmug.com/Other/Best-of-Les-Granges/i-XqpRhfL/0/X3/SAG%20TRIPLET%20TEC%20MOSAIC-X3.jpg

Thanks gentlemen.... having now seen the excellent version Lewis linked to I decided a re-pro was in order!

Looks much better now, same URL, just refresh your browser.

I think the re-pro has more "sparkle" and better colour balance.

Yes that looks better Peter.
Nicer colour balance.
Beautiful.

Looks good Peter. I really like the Trifid in this image. It has something a little special in the look. The blend of the Ha with the RGB looks very solid too. Maybe just a little dark, but that is only a tiny bit. I take it you are going downward next to pick up 6559?

Thanks for the input Paul... yep, I looked at brightening up the lower levels, decided I liked the higher contrast. I've got the 6559 data already...but the stitch is proving problematical ... thinking of heading out toward the Galaxy core next...

Ta! :)

Hi Peter,
That's a beautiful pic.
Using Photoshop -
I would have increased the dark point to brighten those darkest areas
& also selectively adjusted the contrast in the brightest areas of the Lagoon
using a blurred mask with feathering & curves -
but it's still fantastic as it is.

cheers
Allan

Thanks for your input Allan...and I really do appreciate "frank and fearless" comment!

Maybe it is a little dark...maybe not.... fact is: I have no idea what monitors the image is being viewed on.

But I have a personal rule...apply changes globally or not at all (one learned gentleman has pointed out to me: you must "respect the light" ;) )

"Id est quod id est"

Yes I know - what I suggested is cheating but I do that all the time
to try & stop bright areas from being washed out in the glare.
