g'day all
To everyone looking for a resource one of the guys forward this link to me which is really a great resource when wanting to plan a nights viewing.
I was fortunate that a good friend printed this out for me on A3 double sided and bound the hole lot
it's a really great resource covering north and south hemispheres. I use this in conjunction with Sky safari and it really helps teach you what's out there to see.

I have had my 10" Goto dob scope for a few weeks and given its winter only been out a few times.
It helps to read the instructions with the syncs can like know the little tricks like converting degrees to arc minutes and correctly entering your location and Time. otherwise it thinks your somewhere else. And when you know that Mars is in certain location and it's pointing at your feet it's you not the scope.
anyway it's good to learn from your own mistakes
regards Peter

I used the same site for printing out lists of DSOs categorised into their constellations so i can plan what up there by using a planisphere or phone app.

There's some good images of them too to see what to expect.
